Schenck RoTec Introduces CAST 2 – Software for Computer-Aided Spin Testing
Darmstadt, February 2, 2021 – CAST 2, an enhanced version of CAST (Computer-Aided Spin Testing), appears in a more modern interface and with the capability for further modular extension. The software features a modern and intuitive user interface. As the central system on a spin-testing rig, it records a wide range of measurement data and analyzes and monitors all parameters. The software supports up to 64 analog and digital measurement channels - e.g. for speed, shaft vibration, vacuum and temperature.
CAST 2 enables fully automatic process control of spin tests and test cycles by transferring the targets entered by the user into test plans for speed and heating steps, as well as vacuum, to the machine controller. Here, a very wide range of sensor values can be recorded, processed and displayed in diagrams with a sensor rate of up to 10 Hz. A convenient feature, is the ability to easily export the data as a *.csv file. To this extent, the software allows for a simple, more detailed evaluation of measurement data. In addition, the CAST 2 offers convenient visualization of all measurement values of a test run, in online and offline mode, in a variety of diagrams with manual or automatic scaling of measurement values.
"Our team is very proud to have been able to get such an attractive software package up and running in a short time – all while working remotely - for our diverse customer range, in the growth market of spin testing. This success is also due to the transformation in our development department to agile work practices, in particular by applying the scrum framework. Using frequent feedback from the relevant user groups, we were able to identify customer requirements early on, and create added value for the end user", says Tim Fischbeck, Product Owner for CAST 2 at Schenck RoTec.
